Early Warning Signs Checklist is a list that everyone should memorize because heart attacks and strokes do not always happen like they do in the movies with someone suddenly falling to the ground. In many cases the body gives small clues for hours or even days before the big event happens in the chest or the brain. Most of us ignore these feelings because we think it is just tiredness or a bad stomach from lunch but knowing the Early Warning Signs Checklist can be the difference between living and dying.

Doctors say that if you catch the problem early you can save most of the heart muscle and stop the brain from being damaged forever. It is very important to pay attention to any new or strange feeling in your body and not wait for the pain to become unbearable before you call for help.

    Early Warning Signs Checklist

The silent signals of the heart

One of the most common things people feel is a strange pressure in the center of the chest that comes and goes like a heavy weight is sitting on you. This is part of the Early Warning Signs Checklist that people often mistake for simple heartburn or indigestion after a big meal.

You might also feel a sudden pain that travels up to your jaw or down your left arm which is a very classic sign that the heart is struggling to get enough oxygen. Many women report feeling extremely tired for no reason several days before a heart attack happens to them in their homes. By following the Early Warning Signs Checklist you will know that a cold sweat and feeling sick to your stomach are also red flags that should never be ignored.

Recognizing the brain’s cry for help

When it comes to the brain the signs are usually very sudden and they often affect only one side of your body at a time. A key part of the Early Warning Signs Checklist is looking for a drooping face where one side of the mouth hangs lower when the person tries to smile.

You might also notice that your arm feels very weak or numb and you cannot lift it up like the other one when you try to reach for something. Another warning in the Early Warning Signs Checklist is having trouble speaking or finding the right words to say even simple things like your own name. If you feel a sudden dizzy spell or you lose your balance for no reason it could mean that the blood is not reaching your brain properly.

The 7 signs you must never ignore

    1. Chest Discomfort: Feeling a squeezing or fullness in the middle of your chest that lasts for more than a few minutes or keeps coming back.
    2. Shortness of Breath: Having a hard time catching your breath even when you are sitting down or doing very light work around the house.
    3. Upper Body Pain: Feeling a sharp or dull ache in your neck, jaw, back, or in one or both of your arms.
    4. Nausea and Lightheadedness: Feeling like you want to throw up or getting a very dizzy feeling in your head suddenly.
    5. Facial Numbness: Noticing that one side of your face feels tingly or looks uneven when you look in the mirror.
    6. Difficulty Speaking: Slurring your words or not being able to understand what other people are saying to you clearly.
    7. Sudden Confusion: Feeling very lost or having a massive headache that starts out of nowhere without any clear cause.

If you notice any of these items from the Early Warning Signs Checklist in yourself or someone else you must act very fast and not wait. Time is the most important thing because every minute that passes without blood flow means more cells are dying in the heart or the brain.

Even if you are not 100% sure it is better to go to the hospital and find out it was nothing than to stay home and let a small problem become a tragedy. The Early Warning Signs Checklist is designed to give you the power to take action before it is too late for the doctors to help. Many people who survive these events say they felt “something was not right” but they were too embarrassed to call the ambulance for a “small” pain.

We should also teach our children and our elderly parents about the Early Warning Signs Checklist so they can watch out for each other when they are alone. Knowing what to look for can turn a scary situation into a manageable one where the person gets the right medicine in time. The Early Warning Signs Checklist is a simple tool but it is one of the most powerful weapons we have against these silent killers in our modern world. Most heart and brain issues can be treated if they are caught in the first golden hour after the symptoms start to show.

We must remember that our health is our greatest wealth and we have to listen to what our bodies are trying to tell us. The Early Warning Signs Checklist is not meant to scare you but to make you more aware of the signals that could save your life or the life of a loved one. Stay active, eat well, and keep this list in your mind whenever you feel a strange ache or a sudden weakness. Being prepared is the best way to ensure that you have many more healthy years ahead of you with your family.
