During the recent military operation in Puntland, Somalia, the terrorist group ISIS suffered heavy losses. At least 30 militants, including several foreign fighters, were killed in coordinated airstrikes and ground operations. These attacks were carried out specifically to destroy terrorist hideouts in Qil Maskad Hills in the Bari region, destroying their secret centers and weapons.

The security forces of Puntland have intensified their operations against the terrorists and have recaptured a large area from the militants. The government has thanked the international partners for their support in this achievement.

Strategic Impact of Airstrikes on Daesh in Puntland

More than 30 ISIS fighters were killed in the latest airstrikes, severely affecting their fighting capabilities. According to intelligence reports, about 70% of the weapons stockpiles in the targeted area has been destroyed. With over 40% of the top commanders killed during this operation, future operations of the terror group are likely to be adversely affected.

Key Locations Targeted in the Counterterrorism Operation

These attacks were particularly focused on terrorist hideouts in the Qil Maskad mountain range, which spread over an area of about 150 square kilometers. At least five key ISIS camps were destroyed in the operation, while more than 60 bunkers and weapons storage sites were reduced to rubble. Surveillance missions conducted after the attacks revealed that the movement of militants in the area had been reduced by 90%.

Role of Puntland Security Forces in the Offensive

Puntland security forces deployed more than 500 specialist military personnel to secure the area after the airstrikes. More than 100 automatic weapons, RPGs, and explosives were seized during the ground operation. Security patrols have been increased by 80% to prevent militant attempts to regroup, further ensuring peace and stability in the region.

International Cooperation in the Fight Against Terrorism in Somalia

At least three international allies provided intelligence sharing in the operation, during which drones monitored more than 200 kilometers of ISIS-held territory. Airstrikes were conducted with highly accurate targeting, achieving 95% target accuracy. Foreign assistance bolstered Puntland’s counter-terrorism strategy by 60% over the past year, significantly increasing the effectiveness of operations.

Recent airstrikes in Puntland have inflicted heavy losses on ISIS, killing more than 30 fighters and destroying key military bases. Supported by increased security measures and international aid, Puntland’s war on terrorism has reduced militant activity by more than 60%. These measures are proving to be an important step forward in establishing stability in the region and reducing the threats of extremism.
