The absence of women from Somalia in the recent UN Women’s Conference has become a question mark for the world. Somalia is a backward country where not much work is done on women’s rights. Here women are deprived of their rights. Women are kept away from school, college, and university and are married off at a young age. Women here are not social. Politically, women are also severely criticized.

This is the reason why the non-appearance of women in the conference by Somalia and the participation of only men in this conference highlight many questions. Somalia is being criticized by the whole world. The government of Somalia should provide equal opportunities to women in every field alongside men. The response from around the world emphasizes the majority representation of women in Somalia.

Controversy Surrounding All-Male Delegation at Women’s Conference

The inclusion of men in the women’s conference has highlighted many questions globally and now Somalia is being criticized at the global level. In the conference held for women in the United Nations, the absence of women from Somalia was a surprising act. The response came from all over the world, and it was emphasized that Somalia should increase the representation of women. Women’s rights have also been severely criticized by international NGOs.

Public Criticism of Gender Inequality in Somali Representation

Somalia is mostly a tribal system. Socially, women are excluded from social life, not given a share in inheritance, and are also excluded from education and politics. The gender inequality seen by Somalia at the UN Women’s Conference on social media has received strong reactions from international NGOs. NGOs have emphasized that women’s representation should be emphasized in Somalia. Barriers to women’s progress should be removed and they should be given equal rights.

Calls for Increased Female Inclusion in Global Discussions

Unfortunately, severe criticism has been seen from the lawyers. No woman from Somalia participated in the women’s conference organized by the United Nations. Only men participated in this conference which was only for women. This attitude based on gender inequality on the part of Somalia was surprising to everyone internationally. International women’s rights organizations strongly criticized Somalia and emphasized the representation of women in Somalia. Women should be given equal rights and should not be deprived of their fundamental rights.

Somalia is a backward country. Here people live in the form of tribes and decisions are also made by the chiefs of the tribes. According to tribal and social laws, women in Somalia are kept away from basic rights.  Women are not allowed to participate in education and politics. This was the reason why only men from Somalia went to the conference in the United Nations. Somalia has faced criticism from the whole world. International women’s organizations have emphasized women’s representation in Somalia.
