Paris Saint-Germain entered Club World Cup 2025 fresh from a 5–0 Champions League final thrashing of Inter Milan, with Enrique sticking to the same powerful starting lineup—except for the absence of Ousmane Dembélé, out with a muscle injury.
They launched their campaign with a dominant 4–0 win over Atlético Madrid.
Showcasing their attacking firepower and tactical superiority under Luis Enrique.
The French champions controlled both halves, capitalizing on Atlético’s lack of cohesion and discipline.
On the other side, Diego Simeone maintained his trusted 4‑4‑2 setup for Atlético Madrid, but it backfired spectacularly.
His reliance on veteran players—especially Antoine Griezmann—proved costly.
Griezmann’s Disappointing Display
Griezmann, who had recently extended his contract until 2027, failed to inspire.
He missed a golden opportunity at the end of the first half, and PSG punished Atlético immediately with a second goal from Vitinha.
Later, Griezmann’s misplaced pass led to Sini Maïoulou netting PSG’s third, before the French side scored a fourth to seal the win.
A frustrated Clément Lenglet received a red card in the 78th minute, ending any hopes of a comeback.

Michael Olise Shines as Bayern Munich Crush Auckland City 10–0
Elsewhere in the Club World Cup, Bayern Munich thrashed Auckland City 10–0, marking one of the biggest wins in tournament history.
French winger Michael Olise was the star of the show, earning the Man of the Match award.
Olise scored two goals and provided two assists in just 45 minutes before being substituted at halftime.
The 22-year-old is enjoying a spectacular debut season with Bayern.
He scored 17 goals and delivered 21 assists across 50 appearances in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and Champions League.
Bayern Munich, two-time champions of the old Club World Cup format (2013, 2020), are placed in Group C, alongside:
- Auckland City
- Benfica (Portugal)
- Boca Juniors (Argentina)
