Hydrogenated vegetable oils are found in so many foods we eat every day without even realizing it. These oils are made by adding hydrogen to liquid oils to make them solid and help food stay fresh for a much longer time on the shelf. While this is great for companies making snacks and cookies it is really bad for our bodies especially for our internal organs.

The hydrogenated oils that hide in fast food and packaged snacks can cause a lot of stress on the liver because the body does not know how to process these artificial fats properly. When we eat these things the liver has to work extra hard to try and break them down but often it just ends up storing them as fat which is where the real trouble starts for most people.

Why hydrogenated vegetable oils are a silent danger

The biggest problem with these fats is that they cause a lot of inflammation throughout the entire body. When you consume hydrogenated oils on a regular basis your liver starts to get clogged up with unhealthy fats. This can eventually lead to a condition called fatty liver disease which used to be something only people who drank too much alcohol had to worry about.

Now because of the high amount of hydrogenated oils in the modern diet even young people are starting to show signs of liver damage. It is a scary thought that the fried food or the donuts we enjoy could be slowly hurting such an important part of our health system without us feeling any pain at first.

Most of the time we don’t even see the name on the label because it might be listed as partially hydrogenated oil or something similar. But regardless of the name hydrogenated oils act the same way once they enter your bloodstream.

They raise the bad cholesterol and lower the good kind which is a double blow to your heart and your liver. If the liver is busy dealing with these toxic fats it cannot do its other jobs like cleaning the blood or helping with digestion. This is why many doctors suggest staying away from anything that contains hydrogenated vegetable oils if you want to keep your energy levels high and your body functioning the way it should.

Avoiding hydrogenated vegetable oils in your daily meals

It can be really hard to change your eating habits but it is definitely worth it for your long term health. You should try to look at the ingredients on everything you buy from the store because hydrogenated vegetable oils are even in things that seem healthy like some margarines or bread. Switching to natural fats like olive oil or butter is a much better choice because the body actually knows how to use those for energy. If you keep eating hydrogenated vegetable oils you are basically putting a heavy burden on your liver every single day. Many people find that once they cut these oils out they feel less bloated and have more focus throughout the day.

The liver is actually a very strong organ and it can heal itself if you give it the right environment. But if you keep flooding it with hydrogenated vegetable oils it eventually loses the ability to repair the damage. This can lead to permanent scarring or even worse issues later in life. It is much easier to prevent these problems now by making simple choices at the grocery store. Just by saying no to processed snacks that use hydrogenated vegetable oils you are doing a huge favor for your future self.

In conclusion we really need to be more careful about what we put in our mouths. The food industry cares about profit and shelf life but we have to care about our own health. The link between hydrogenated vegetable oils and liver damage is becoming clearer every year and it is not something we should ignore. Taking care of your liver means eating fresh food and staying away from the lab made fats that are designed to last forever but end up hurting us. Start by checking your pantry today and try to replace those bad oils with something natural so your liver can finally get the rest it deserves.
