King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) has become one of Somalia’s most consistent humanitarian partners.
From emergency food aid to long-term health projects, its work has reached hundreds of thousands of Somalis over the last ten years.
Latest King Salman Humanitarian Aid Distribution in Baidoa
In its most recent effort, KSRelief distributed 1,300 food boxes to vulnerable families in Baidoa, part of Saudi Arabia’s Food Security Support Project for Somalia.
The parcels include essential items such as rice, flour, oil, sugar and beans—staples that help households facing high food prices, drought, and displacement.
This aid comes at a critical time.
Baidoa, in Somalia’s South West State, hosts tens of thousands of internally displaced people who fled drought and insecurity. For many families, KSRelief’s food boxes are the only reliable source of nutrition.
King Salman Humanitarian Aid Center Efforts in A Decade
Over the past ten years, KSRelief has steadily increased its presence in Somalia:
- Food security: Thousands of tons of flour, rice, and dates have been distributed to drought-hit regions such as Baidoa, Banadir, and Puntland.
- Health services: KSRelief has supported maternal and child health clinics, vaccination campaigns, and emergency nutrition programs for malnourished children.
- Water and sanitation: The agency has funded clean-water wells, hygiene kits, and water-trucking services in rural areas hit by cholera outbreaks.
- Emergency response: During floods and displacement crises, KSRelief has provided shelter kits, medical supplies, and rapid food distributions.
By the end of 2023, King Salman Humanitarian Aid Center had implemented dozens of Somalia-specific projects worth tens of millions of dollars.

Why This Matters
Somalia faces one of the world’s toughest humanitarian challenges, with recurrent droughts, floods, and conflict disrupting food and health systems.
KSRelief’s consistent engagement, especially in hard-to-reach areas—has helped cushion communities from the worst effects of these shocks.
The Food Security Support Project in Baidoa shows how targeted aid can stabilize families and reduce hunger while Somalia works toward long-term recovery.
