In a move aimed at strengthening regional partnerships, the President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi (also referred to as Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi “Arro” in some references), paid an official visit to Nairobi, Kenya.
During his visit to Kenya, Arro has met with Kenyan President William Ruto.
The visit underscores ongoing efforts to expand Somaliland diplomatic footprint in East Africa—despite its lack of formal international recognition as an independent state.
Somaliland Diplomatic Footprint Extends by Opening of Somaliland Representative Office in Nairobi
During the inauguration ceremony of Somaliland’s new representative office in Nairobi on Thursday, President “Arro” expressed deep appreciation for the growing ties between Somaliland and Kenya.
He emphasized that the two sides had reached constructive understandings on several shared concerns and looked forward to building a stronger and more effective partnership across key sectors.

Kenya Respects Somalia Sovereignty
After the visit of Somaliland’s leader, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro), Kenya has reiterated its commitment to Somalia sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Kenya emphasized its recognition of Somalia as a unified federal nation.
Affirming that its diplomatic engagements with regional administrations like Somaliland and Jubaland are conducted in consultation with Somalia’s federal government.
