In a landmark move toward digital transformation, Somalia’s Immigration and Nationality Authority has officially announced the launch of Somalia E-VISA System (E-VISA/ETAS), effective September 1, 2025.

This strategic shift positions Somalia among the nations embracing cutting-edge digital solutions for managing border entry and exit.

During the official inauguration ceremony, Minister of Internal Security Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag emphasized that all foreign nationals intending to enter Somalia must now apply through the official online portal.

He highlighted the role of Somalia E-VISA System:

    • Strengthening national security through improved monitoring of foreign visitors
    • Increasing revenue efficiency by channeling visa fees directly to the Ministry of Finance

A Milestone in Somalia’s Digital Evolution

Mustafa Sheikh Ali Dhuxluwo, Director General of the Immigration and Nationality Authority, described the launch as a “transformational step” that reflects Somalia’s commitment to global digital trends.

He noted key benefits of the system:

    • Protection of personal data
    • Support for the national economy

    • Accredited diplomats
    • UNLP passport holders
    • Citizens of countries with visa-free agreements with Somalia

    Global Accessibility and Professional Service

Isaak Hassan Tako, Director of Foreign Affairs and Entry Management, confirmed that the system was developed after years of preparation.
    It allows applicants to:

    • Receive approvals within a short timeframe
    • Benefit from trained personnel dedicated to fast and efficient service delivery

Boosting Travel, Investment, and Somalia’s Global Image
