In a strategic step aimed at supporting food security in Somalia, Somalia’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Zahra Yusuf Agay, participated in the Second Brazil-Africa Dialogue on Food Security and Rural Development, held in the Brazilian capital, Brasília, from May 20 to 22, 2025.

The conference focused on agricultural technology cooperation, knowledge exchange, policy innovation, and strategies to combat hunger and poverty.

The conference served as a vital platform for South-South cooperation, with sessions and workshops focusing on:

- Strengthening local production and reducing reliance on food imports
Somalia’s participation in 2nd Brazil-Africa Dialogue on Food Security was widely praised.
Attending delegations expressed their support for the Somali government’s efforts to improve agricultural capacity and achieve self-sufficiency, essential for rural stability and reducing displacement caused by hunger and poverty.
