He highlighted that Somalia’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and historical sites present enormous potential for economic growth and international cooperation.

“Tourism is a vital source of national income and a bridge for social and international engagement, especially with regional blocs like the East African Community (EAC) and IGAD,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.

    Initiatives to Support Somalia Tourism

The government has prioritized investment in tourism infrastructure, including roads, airports, seaports, and security measures.

Strengthening these facilities is essential to ensure safe, convenient, and enjoyable experiences for both domestic and international visitors.

Best Ways to Improve Somalia Tourism

To maximize Somalia’s tourism potential, experts recommend several key strategies:

    1. Infrastructure Development: Expand airports, improve road networks, and modernize ports to facilitate travel and logistics.
    2. Cultural and Heritage Promotion: Highlight historical landmarks, coastal beaches, wildlife reserves, and Somali traditions to attract global tourists.
    3. Investment Incentives: Encourage private investment in hotels, resorts, eco-tourism, and guided tour services through tax breaks and public-private partnerships.
    4. Security Enhancement: Ensure tourists feel safe by maintaining stability in key travel regions.
    5. Marketing and Digital Presence: Launch global marketing campaigns, maintain interactive tourism websites, and leverage social media to showcase Somalia’s attractions.
    6. Skills Development: Train youth in hospitality, tour guiding, and management to raise service standards and create employment opportunities.

New Rising Tourism Destination in East Africa

Deputy Prime Minister Haji Abdi also praised tourism sector workers for their vital role in promoting Somalia’s image abroad and contributing to the country’s economic development.
