We, the Sudanese living abroad, are following with deep concern the tragic events and repeated violations against unarmed civilians in our homeland.
We stress the urgent need for immediate action to hold the Government of Port Sudan and the Sudanese army leadership accountable for the systematic crimes committed against the people.
Reliable press reports and independent human rights organizations have documented the involvement of Iranian leaders in training elements of the Sudanese army in urban warfare tactics, the use of drones, and other advanced weaponry.
Alongside this, Turkish-made weapons, including offensive drones, have been supplied and used to target residential neighborhoods, markets, and civilian facilities.
These practices are not only blatant violations of international and humanitarian law, but also amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity, having led to the killing of large numbers of civilians, the displacement of hundreds of thousands from their homes, and the deprivation of the simplest conditions of safety and dignified life.
Therefore, we demand the following:
- Launching an urgent and transparent international investigation into all violations committed by the Sudanese army and the Government of Port Sudan against civilians.
- Holding all those responsible for these crimes accountable, including the implicated military and political leaders.
- Imposing international sanctions on parties and individuals providing military or logistical support for these operations, whether inside or outside Sudan.
- Protecting civilians through the deployment of international monitoring mechanisms on the ground, and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid without obstacles.
We believe that the silence of the international community in the face of these crimes amounts to indirect complicity, and that our duty as Sudanese abroad is to amplify the voices of the victims to the world until justice is served and the criminals are held accountable.
