The Federal Republic of Somalia and the Republic of Djibouti have signed a strategic agreement known as the Status of Forces Agreement (SoFA).

Somalia and Djibouti Status of Forces Agreement serves as the official legal framework for boosting the deployment of Djiboutian troops operating in Somalia under the African Union Transition Mission.

Who Signed Somalia and Djibouti Status of Forces Agreement?

The agreement was signed in Djibouti’s capital in the presence of high-ranking officials.

Somalia’s Minister of Defense, Mr. Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, signed on behalf of Somalia.
While Acting Minister of Defense, Mr. Ali Hassan Bahdon, represented Djibouti.
Senior military and diplomatic figures from both countries were in attendance.

This agreement outlines the mechanisms for enhancing Djiboutian forces in Somalia.

It also defines the scope of military cooperation, shared responsibilities, and protocols for intervention, all grounded in mutual respect and full coordination between the two national armies.

A Reflection of Djibouti’s Ongoing Commitment to Somalia’s Stability

This agreement demonstrates Djibouti’s unwavering support for political and security stability in Somalia, and reflects the shared vision of Somalia and Djibouti toward achieving sustainable regional peace.
Especially amid ongoing security challenges in the Horn of Africa.

The signing ceremony took place in an atmosphere of mutual trust and brotherhood, underscoring the strong historical and fraternal ties between the Somali and Djiboutian peoples.
