The US Army Engineer Support Company is deployed under the Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA).
It is playing a critical role in advancing both military operations and service member welfare at Baledogle Military Airfield (BMA) in Somalia.
The US Army Engineers are Improving the Medical Capabilities in East Africa
In a key step toward strengthening operational support in the region, the engineering team recently completed the construction of a new medical aid station at Baledogle Military Airfield.
This facility is designed to provide timely, life-saving medical care to U.S. and allied personnel stationed at the airfield, significantly enhancing emergency response capabilities and operational readiness.
“It’s incredibly important that we navigate the challenges to make this aid station a reality,” said the US Army Sgt. Liam Harris, the team lead for the woodworking section of the project.
Baledogle Military Airfield: A Strategic Investment in Operational Readiness
Located in a region critical to counterterrorism and security efforts in East Africa, Baledogle Military Airfield serves as a strategic hub.
The new aid station ensures that medical support is immediately available, enabling service members to remain mission-focused as they work to support regional stability and security.
Beyond Medical Support: Quality-of-Life Upgrades
The 152nd Engineer Support Company contributions extend beyond healthcare.
The unit is actively engaged in a series of quality-of-life improvement projects, including:
- Construction of additional housing units
- Enhanced force protection infrastructure
- Upgraded living and working facilities
These efforts aim to provide a safer, more sustainable environment for deployed troops, reinforcing the long-term viability of the Baledogle Military Airfield installation.
Engineering Excellence Under Pressure
Drawing from their National Guard civilian expertise and previous deployment experiences, the engineers demonstrate a blend of technical skill and operational adaptability in one of the Horn of Africa’s most demanding environments.
“Engineers are the foundation of the Army,” said U.S. Army Sgt. Roberts, section lead with the 152nd ESC.
“We provide the essentials—shelter, safety, and sustainability—so every mission can succeed.”
With a focus on innovation, resilience, and mission support, the US Army engineers at Baledogle Military Airfield continue to build the physical and strategic infrastructure necessary to support ongoing U.S. military objectives in Somalia and East Africa.
Their efforts are not only improving the lives of deployed personnel but are also reinforcing America’s commitment to stability in the region.
