One country on the list of the poorest countries in the world is Somalia, where a lot of poverty is only due to internecine conflicts, endless droughts, and instability of the government. Due to all these reasons, millions of people in Somalia are deprived of the necessities of life.

Political instability and conflict in Somalia

If we want to know the reason for Somalia’s high poverty rate, we must understand that the ongoing political instability and conflict in Somalia are mainly due to limited access to basic things like education and health care. These things can be solved. In addition, if we examine the climate situation in Somalia, we find that frequent droughts and climate changes add to the economic challenges.

    Environmental Change and Droughts

Extreme droughts in Somalia due to climate change destroy most crops and livestock, and these droughts lead to food shortages and loss of livelihoods in Somalia. As a result, incomes fall aid dependency increases, and poverty increases.

    The lack of good governance

Due to the lack of good governance, Somalia has become a victim of poverty in the world today. In Somalia, political instability, lack of good rulers and complex problems of institutions are taking the country below the poverty line very fast. People in this country are deprived of their basic rights and needs. If there are good rulers in the government who plan to connect Somalia with other countries and bring investors here, then the condition of the country and the people can be better.

How can poverty be reduced in Somalia?

As mentioned earlier, the main reason for high poverty in Somalia is the ongoing political instability and conflicts, environmental change and the lack of good governance there. Therefore, the only solution to reduce poverty in Somalia is to achieve peace and political stability, which will enable the economic development of the country, the improvement of governance, and the happiness of the people.
