The current situation in Somalia is becoming very tense because of how the leadership is handling the country. Many people are worried that the Somali political crisis is getting worse every single day because the government is not listening to the needs of the people. Instead of focusing on peace and growth the current administration seems more interested in holding onto power. This Somali political crisis has led to a lot of anger in different regions because they feel like their voices are being ignored. When a president tries to change the rules of the game while everyone else is playing it creates a lot of friction and makes it hard for anyone to trust the system.

How the Somali political crisis affects the regions

One of the biggest issues right now is how the president is trying to consolidate power by changing the constitution. He is doing this unilaterally which means he is not getting the agreement of the other regional states. This has caused a huge divide. The Somali political crisis grows when regions feel like they are being forced to follow rules they never agreed to.

There are even reports of weapons being used to settle scores with these regions to impose authority by force. Using the military or security agents to threaten opponents is a very dangerous path to take in a country that has already suffered through so much conflict. People want to feel safe from their government not threatened by it.

    Financial corruption and systemic issues

The way public money is being handled is another major part of the Somali political crisis right now. Many critics say that state funds are being used to bribe members of parliament so they will pass these constitutional amendments. This is basically using the peoples money to take away their own rights. When public funds are used for bribes instead of building schools or fixing roads the whole society suffers.

The economic situation is already very bad and living conditions are getting worse for average families. People are struggling to buy food and basic needs while they see the leaders using wealth to stay in power. This is why the Somali political crisis is not just about politics but about the survival of the Somali people.

There is also a huge problem with land in the capital city. In Mogadishu many people are complaining about the confiscation of Somali owned land. This makes people feel like they have no rights even in their own homes. On top of that the security situation is falling apart. We see clashes in places like the Southwest region and the government seems unable or unwilling to stop it. The Somali political crisis is made even more complicated by foreign interventions.

It feels like outside countries have more say in what happens in Somalia than the Somali people themselves. This makes the federal government look weak and like they are just following orders from elsewhere.

Seeking a way out of the Somali political crisis

For things to get better there needs to be a clear agenda for elections. The president has been delaying the dates for regional and presidential elections which makes everyone suspicious. If there is no clear plan for when people can vote it feels like the democracy is being stolen.

The Somali political crisis will only end if there is an honest dialogue between the federal government and the regions. You cannot run a country by force or by bribing politicians. It requires respect for the law and for the people who live there.

The family of the president has also been accused of exploiting state institutions for their own personal gain. This kind of nepotism hurts the country because jobs and resources go to relatives instead of the most qualified people. This adds another layer to the Somali political crisis because it shows a lack of integrity at the very top. If the leadership does not change its ways the suffering of Somali society will only increase. We need a government that cares about the economy and the safety of its citizens more than it cares about changing the constitution to stay in power.

The Somali political crisis is a wake up call that things need to change fast before the country slides back into more chaos. Every citizen deserves to live in a place where their land is safe and their vote actually counts. Without these basic things the Somali political crisis will continue to haunt the future of the nation.
