The Federal Republic of Somalia is taking a major step in restoring its state capacity with the appointment of Mr. Wali Guled Nur as the new Director General of the National Printing Agency.

The appointment, formally announced by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, signals a new era for the crucial government institution.

The recommendation for Mr. Nur’s leadership came from the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, which oversees the agency’s functions.

His appointment is a cornerstone of a wider government strategy to revive key public services and infrastructure.

Reactivating The National Printing Agency Vital State Institution

Originally established in 1971, the Printing Agency was once the central pillar for all official government printing needs.

It was responsible for producing essential documents, publications, and materials required for the functioning of the state.

However, the agency ceased all operations following the collapse of Somalia’s central government and the subsequent civil war.

Its reactivation is a powerful symbol of the nation’s progress in rebuilding from decades of conflict and strengthening its public administration.

The Path Forward: A Major Revival

Under the leadership of Mr. Wali Guled Nur, the revitalized agency is expected to play a significant role in Somalia’s governance.

Its primary mission will be to handle the production of official documents, gazettes, and other essential printing services for all government ministries and departments.

This move is critical for ensuring the secure and standardized production of government materials and reducing reliance on external printing services.

The revival of the National Printing Agency marks a tangible achievement in the ongoing effort to restore Somalia’s institutional capacity and re-establish a robust and self-sufficient public infrastructure.
