    In a continued demonstration of its humanitarian commitment to friendly and brotherly nations, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) participated in the Ministerial Meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group on Somalia.

    This meeting was held in Doha, Qatar, between 27 and 28 July, 2025.

    Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa Leads the United Arab Emirates Delegation to Doha

    The meeting aimed to enhance joint efforts to support stability and development in the Federal Republic of Somalia.

    The UAE delegation was headed by His Excellency Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, the UAE Ambassador to the State of Qatar.

    Supporting Political, Economic, and Humanitarian Progress in Somalia

    During the meeting, participating countries reviewed the latest political and economic developments in Somalia.
    They also explored ways to boost humanitarian aid, support reconstruction, and promote sustainable development.

    Discussions focused on strengthening partnerships between OIC member states and relevant international organizations.

    The UAE’s participation reflects its long-standing support for Somalia’s recovery and growth, and underscores its broader commitment to regional peace and cooperation.

    Ongoing UAE Contributions to Somalia’s Development

    Abu Dhabi Fund for Development Supports A New Social Housing Project in Somaliland

    The United Arab Emirates continues to play a vital role in Somalia through numerous humanitarian and development projects, ranging from food aid and healthcare to infrastructure and education.

    The latest announced project was launched by Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD).
    ADFD has funded a major social housing project in the city of Berbera, Somaliland.
    With a total investment of AED 27.5 million (approximately USD 7.5 million).

    These efforts are part of the UAE’s wider policy of solidarity with vulnerable nations and its role as a regional humanitarian leader.
