    12th Grade National Exams 2024–2025 Complete Successfully in Somalia

    Somalia has successfully finished the 12th Grade National Exams for the 2024–2025 academic year, marking an important step in improving the country’s education system.

    According to the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Higher Education, a total of 39,382 students sat for the exams between June 14 and 19 across different regions of Somalia.

    The ministry said the exams were conducted in a fair, secure, and transparent manner.

    Girl Participation in 12th Grade National Exams 2024-2025 Reaches 42%

    Out of the total candidates, 16,356 were girls (42%) and 23,026 were boys (58%).
    Banadir region had the largest number of students taking the exams, with 23,674 candidates, followed by:

    • Southwest: 5,904
    • Galmudug: 3,223
    • Hirshabelle: 2,974
    • Jubaland: 2,097
    • Khatumo: 1,520

    National Exams Held Across 140 Certified Centres

    The ministry set up 140 certified exam centres—76 in regional states and 64 in Banadir.
    To ensure proper management and security, 2,908 invigilators, 323 supervisors, and 1,777 security officers were deployed during the exam period.

    New Reforms to Improve Quality and Fairness

    This year’s exams featured several new reforms designed to improve credibility and efficiency:

    • Use of QR codes to verify student identities
    • Deployment of qualified national-level teachers
    • Better student distribution to avoid overcrowding
    • On-site health services for emergencies
    • Digital attendance tracking for better monitoring

    For the first time, agricultural students were also included in the national exam, showing the government’s support for Somalia’s agriculture sector and expanding opportunities in different study fields.

    Education Minister Thanks Students and Stakeholders

    Education Minister Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir praised everyone involved in the success of 12th Grade National Exams 2024–2025.

    “I am proud of our students for their hard work. I also thank our teachers, parents, exam teams, security officers, and partners for their support,” he said.

    Education Reform: A Step Toward National Development

    Although Somalia has faced many challenges since the collapse of its central government in 1991, the country is now working hard to rebuild its education system as part of its broader recovery.

    The Ministry of Education said it will continue to improve national exams and increase access to quality education for all Somali students.

    Exam Results Coming Soon

    The ministry confirmed that 12th Grade National Exams papers marking is now underway, and official updates and results will be shared soon through trusted government platforms.
