High water consumption is critical in Somalia’s dry climate. A few steps are being taken to improve water issues in agriculture. These include developing projects like rain harvesting and solar-powered pumps.

By this, water can be stored to a sufficient extent and all irrigation projects can be completed by eliminating water scarcity. Water wastage can be reduced through these projects and is very important for sustaining agriculture in drought-prone areas. Crop production can also be increased through these projects.

    Drought-Resistant Crops and Climate Adaptation

To avoid drought in Somalia, crop production is achieved according to the season, which reduces water wastage and does not damage the crop. The introduction of crop varieties adapted to Somalia’s frequent dry seasons has greatly benefited farmers.

Crops like millet and millet are bred for their adaptation. Because these crops can tolerate temperature extremes more. Another major advantage of these crops is that they reduce water wastage. Due to this characteristic of these crops, food security in Somalia can be improved and many threats can be tackled even under drought or seasonal conditions.

Empowering Local Farmers through Technology and Education

Providing farmers with modern technology resources and training in modern techniques can significantly improve productivity in Somalia. Better decision-making can be achieved through education. Agricultural innovation can increase productivity in Somalia to overcome domestic climate challenges. Due to this, the lack of food security can also be addressed. By equipping farmers with modern techniques, climatic conditions, and drought can be dealt with. Steps can be taken to improve farming with the help of modern technology.
