Israel has reportedly assassinated 11 Al Jazeera journalists through direct strikes in the Gaza Strip, as part of what media watchdogs describe as a deliberate campaign to silence coverage of the ongoing war.

The attacks come amid intensified efforts by Israeli authorities to impose a media blackout and obscure the realities of what many are calling a genocidal campaign in Gaza.

Israel Kills 1 Journalist Every 3 Days

Since the war began 22 months ago, the number of journalists killed in Gaza has reached 238, making it one of the deadliest conflicts for media professionals in modern history.

Many were killed while reporting from the field; others died in Israeli airstrikes targeting their homes.

Who Are Al Jazeera Journalists that Israel Targeted?

Al Jazeera Journalists were targeted due to their coverage of the war in Gaza and the list include:

    • Anas Al-Sharif (29) – Killed in a direct strike near Al-Shifa Hospital on August 10, 2025, after facing threats and incitement campaigns for his coverage of humanitarian crises in Jabalia and Gaza City.
    • Mohammed Quraeqaa (31) – Died minutes after a live broadcast from the same journalist tent as Al-Sharif. Known for his eloquence and deep field knowledge.
    • Ibrahim Daher (25) – Al Jazeera cameraman who worked closely with Al-Sharif in northern Gaza.
    • Moamen Alouwa – Cameraman who accompanied Quraeqaa in all his field reports.
    • Mohammed Noufal (28) – Killed in the same tent strike, just 40 days after losing his mother in an earlier bombing.
    • Hossam Shabat (23) – Al Jazeera Mubasher correspondent, killed by a drone strike in Jabalia on March 24, 2025.
    • Ahmed Al-Louh (39) – Died during an Israeli strike on a civil defense site while covering a humanitarian mission in Nuseirat on December 15, 2024.
    • Ismail Al-Ghoul (27) and Ibrahim Al-Rifi (27) – Killed in a targeted attack while reporting in Gaza’s Al-Shati camp on July 31, 2024.
    • Hamza Wael Al-Dahdouh (28) and Mustafa Thurayya – Killed by a drone strike on their vehicle in Khan Younis on January 7, 2024.
    • Samer Abu Daqa (45) – The first Al Jazeera journalist killed in the war, died on December 15, 2023, after bleeding for six hours without medical aid following a strike on Farhana School.

    Al Jazeera Condemns Targeted Killings

In an official statement, Al Jazeera Media Network condemned the deliberate targeting of Al Jazeera journalists and held the Israeli government and military accountable.

The network called on the international community and human rights organizations to take urgent action to stop the ongoing genocide and protect Al Jazeera journalists from systematic attacks.
