Kenyan Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi held a high-level meeting on Wednesday with Somali Ambassador to Kenya Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between Kenya and Somalia, promote peace, and strengthen regional security across the Horn of Africa.

The talks were held at the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs headquarters in Nairobi.

Mudavadi reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to regional stability, describing peace and security as the “heartbeat of Africa’s progress.”

He emphasized that lasting peace is the key to unlocking Africa’s economic potential, fostering trade, and deepening the bonds between neighboring nations.

Kenya Remains Steadfast in Advancing the Continent’s Stability

Mudavadi shared this post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account:

“Peace and security stand at the heart of Africa’s progress, creating the foundation for people-to-people movement and unlocking opportunities that strengthen diplomatic and economic ties across the continent,”

He added that Kenya remains steadfast in advancing the continent’s stability, guided by the spirit of unity, cooperation, and shared history with its neighbors.

    Expanding Kenya and Somalia Cooperation

The meeting focused on strengthening Kenya and Somalia relations through collaboration in several key sectors.

Both leaders discussed enhancing joint efforts in counterterrorism, cross-border trade, education, and infrastructure development.

Mudavadi and Ambassador Abdulle acknowledged that regional peace and prosperity depend on consistent dialogue and mutual understanding among neighboring states.

    Importance of People-to-people Exchanges

They agreed to maintain open communication channels to address common challenges such as insecurity, border management, and the fight against extremism.

The leaders also highlighted the importance of people-to-people exchanges.
Especially in education and commerce, as vital components of regional integration.

These collaborations, they noted, are essential in strengthening social and economic ties between the two countries.

    Kenya’s Role in Regional Diplomacy

Kenya continues to play a significant role in promoting peacebuilding and diplomatic engagement within the Horn of Africa, working closely with partners like Somalia, Ethiopia, and South Sudan to enhance stability and cooperation.

Mudavadi reaffirmed Kenya’s dedication to ensuring that its foreign policy aligns with the African Union’s vision for a peaceful, prosperous, and integrated continent.
Emphasizing that collaboration remains the path to shared progress.
