Today, Tuesday, Mogadishu is hosting a special sports event.
A joint delegation from FIFA (International Football Federation) and CAF (African Football Confederation) is visiting the Somali capital to check how football has improved in the country and to explore the possibility of hosting international matches in the future.
Who will Play in the Friendly Football Match at Mogadishu Stadium?
As part of the visit, a friendly football match will be held at Mogadishu Stadium.
The game will feature Somalia’s national team, along with top local players, against a guest team of famous former African football stars.
The delegation will also visit major sports facilities in Mogadishu.
Especially Mogadishu Stadium—to see if they are ready to host regional or continental football tournaments.

FIFA and CAF Delegation Members
The delegation includes senior officials from FIFA and CAF.
As well as three famous African football ambassadors:
Cameroon’s Samuel Eto’o, Togo’s Emmanuel Adebayor, and Nigeria’s Jay-Jay Okocha.
Those stars will take part in the friendly football match and meet Somali government officials and members of the Somali Football Federation.
Somalia’s Minister of Youth and Sports Welcomes FIFA and CAF Delegation
The delegation will be warmly welcomed by Somalia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Mohamed Abdukadir Ali, and the President of the Somali Football Federation, Ali Abdi Mohamed.
Their participation shows how serious the Somali government is about using sports to help develop the country and build international ties.
This visit comes as Somalia works to present itself as a safe and capable country for hosting international events, especially now that security and sports infrastructure are improving.
