Somali Coastal Paradise is the best way to describe our beautiful country because we have the longest coastline on the whole continent and a location that every world power wants to be close to. When you look at the map you see that we sit right at the gateway of the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean which makes us the most important neighbors for global shipping. This Somali Maritime Corridor is not just about the white sand and the blue water but about the massive potential to build huge ports that can serve millions of people in Africa and beyond. For a long time we only talked about our problems but now the conversation is shifting toward our natural gifts and how this Somali Maritime Corridor can lead us into a rich future. If you travel from the north to the south you will see that every mile of our land is a strategic asset that can bring in tourism and international trade if we just manage it with wisdom and unity. The world is starting to realize that the Somali Maritime Corridor is open for business and that our location is a golden ticket that we must hold onto very tightly.

    Somali Coastal Paradise

The reason why this Somali Maritime Corridor is so valuable is that nearly all the big ships traveling between Europe and Asia have to pass right by our front door. This Somali Maritime Corridor gives us the power to become the “Singapore of Africa” if we build the right infrastructure and keep our waters safe from any trouble. Leaders in Mogadishu and the regional states are now working together more to protect the Somali Maritime Corridor and to invite big companies to invest in our blue economy. We have more than just fish in our sea; we have potential for oil and gas and green energy that can be generated by the strong winds of the Somali Maritime Corridor shores. It is a very exciting time for our youth because they are starting to see that they don’t have to leave home to find success when they live in a Somali Coastal Paradise with so much untapped wealth. By focusing on our geography we can turn our country into a bridge that connects different continents and brings prosperity to every single village from Berbera down to Kismayo.

Strategic Advantages of the Somali Coastal Paradise

First the Somali Maritime Corridor sits next to the Bab el-Mandeb strait which is one of the busiest water passages in the world for oil and goods. Second we have the Somali Maritime Corridor climate which is perfect for year-round fishing and can provide food for the entire region if we use modern boats. Third the Somali Maritime Corridor has natural deep-water harbors that don’t need much digging to host the biggest container ships on the planet.

Fourth through the Somali Maritime Corridor we can provide a gateway for landlocked neighbors like Ethiopia who need a reliable way to send their products to the global market. Fifth the Somali Coastal Paradise is full of beautiful islands and coral reefs that can attract thousands of tourists who want a new and fresh place to go for vacation. Sixth and finally the Somali Maritime Corridor is a place where new undersea internet cables land which makes it a great spot for building a digital economy for the whole of East Africa.

Protecting the Future of Our Somali Coastal Paradise

Even though we have all these gifts we must be very careful to protect the Somali Coastal Paradise from environmental damage and illegal waste dumping by foreign ships. The government is creating new laws to make sure that our waters stay clean so that the Somali Coastal Paradise remains a healthy place for our children to inherit. We also need to invest more in our own people so they have the skills to run the ports and the hotels that will grow along the Somali Coastal Paradise coastline. It is a big responsibility to own such a strategic piece of the earth and we have to be smart about how we share it with the rest of the world. The Somali Coastal Paradise is our pride and our future and it is time we treated it like the treasure it truly is.
