Somalia’s e-Visa and the blame, he said he had discovered that Premier Bank and a company called Empire, owned by the family of President Hassan Sheikh, were benefiting from the new scheme. He added that the Somali immigration fee was paid through Premier Bank, and that it was not a regular payment service, but a pre-planned scheme.

“He went to great lengths to hide the fact that he and this company owned the E-Visa, which is why it took so long to find out who was actually receiving the money, which was Empire and the bank responsible for this project,” Ahmed said.

Somalia’s e-Visa and the blame, he said that when he found out about the matter, he spoke directly to the chairman of Premier Bank, who explained in detail that they were responsible for the illegal immigration project and who they were working with.

“I was really surprised that a bank I know would do something like this,” Ahmed said. “After a long discussion, I said: wow, you are also being hurt by this, and we are not accepting it.”

    IS THE MATTER COMPETITION?

Somalia’s e-Visa and the blame, he said that the bank wanted to make the matter a commercial competition, so he was attacking, but that there was no competition between him and the bank’s executives, and that he himself had connected it to the company that processed the most money through the bank.

“The only thing we agreed on was that I said: take this checkpoint you put there for us, and we will not take it. There is nothing else,” he continued.

Ahmed Ismail vowed to confront the bank, threatening that if the fraudulent immigration system is not addressed, he will speak to the international media, as, according to him, what he is accusing the bank of is an international crime.

    Somalia's e-Visa and the blame

Somalia’s e-Visa and the blame, the fraudulent immigration system has further fueled the dispute over airspace between Somaliland government and the Federal Government of Somalia, with Somaliland completely boycotting it, while the people of Somaliland are stranded at international airports after being forced to apply for a visa to Somalia.

The Somali Federal Government, for its part, has said that it is a system to ensure the security of its airspace and borders, including Somaliland, in order to monitor people entering the country.
