Strengthening parliamentary cooperation, the speaker of Somalia’s Lower House, Sheikh Aden Mohamed Noor Madoobe, met with his Kenyan counterpart Moses M. Wetang’ula in Nairobi to discuss strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

Strengthening parliamentary cooperation, according to both offices, the talks focused on creating a joint parliamentary friendship committee, expanding experience-sharing programmes between lawmakers, and deepening coordination between Somalia’s and Kenya’s legislative bodies.
Speaker Wetang’ula congratulated Madoobe for his leadership as chair of the East African Community Parliamentary Speakers’ Forum and for Somalia’s recent election of representatives to the East African Legislative Assembly, describing it as a sign of the country’s increasing engagement in regional institutions.

Strengthening parliamentary cooperation, Madoobe, in turn, conveyed Somalia’s condolences following the death of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga. He also invited Wetang’ula to attend the East African Community Speakers’ Summit, which Somalia is scheduled to host in May 2026.
The meeting was attended by senior Somali officials, including Abdirahman Mohamed Abdulle (Jaabiri), secretary-general of the House of the People; Somalia’s ambassador to Kenya, Jibril Ibrahim Abdulle; and Yusuf Hassan, director-general of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
