Somalia is a country with problems such as corruption, poverty, environment, political instability, agriculture, education, health, and unemployment. However international aid to solve these problems has paved the way for Somalia’s further development. Much-needed humanitarian aid through international aid has supported Somalia, but more action is needed in the areas of poverty and employment.

We mention a few points to understand the role of international aid in the recovery of Somalia.

Humanitarian Aid: Meeting Urgent Needs in Crisis Areas

Somalia is suffering from many complex problems, the people here are suffering from poverty and misery, and the youth are worried because of unemployment. Due to the drought, the irrigation system has been destroyed, due to which there is a shortage of food and people are homeless. In such a situation, humanitarian aid is very important for the displaced population and foreign humanitarian aid is playing an excellent role in uplifting the distressed nation there.

    Infrastructure Development: Rebuilding Somalia’s Foundations

Educational institutions, hospitals, and roads in Somalia are dilapidated and the improvement of these things is not possible due to the lack of funds of the government. Only international aid has played an excellent role in Somalia by funding good educational institutions, hospitals, and road construction. But here, security problems always cause obstacles in these relief activities.

The role of NGOs and international organizations in Somalia

Governmental and international organizations help with projects that cannot be completed due to lack of funds with the Government of Somalia. Here, international organizations play an important role in education and health and provide necessary humanitarian aid. The major problems here include poverty and unemployment, and international organizations are also playing an excellent role in solving these problems.

Challenges of aid dependency and corruption

In Somalia, where international organizations have provided relief for the problems of poverty, unemployment, education, and health, the dependence on this aid has also increased. Many people do not like to do any work after receiving aid relief and because of this, the economic development of Somalia has stopped. Here the problems are increasing due to the carelessness of the administration on the part of the government. Good governance is very important in Somalia, along with the assistance provided by international organizations. And with good governance, many challenges can be overcome.

Towards Sustainable Development: Aligning Aid with Local Priorities

It has been stated earlier that good governance is very important in aid activities which play an important role in aligning local priorities with foreign and international aid. When international organizations take humanitarian aid to the areas where aid is most needed, it is important that the Somali leadership plays its role to avoid misrepresentation.

Finally, the aid provided by international organizations to Somalia and its poor nation has always been important. International organizations come into the field to fulfill the public affairs and facilities that the Somali leadership cannot provide. For the economic development of Somalia, it is necessary to deal with the challenges like corruption and misalignment. Aid is not the only solution to the serious problems of Somalia. It is also very important to train the Somali people mentally.
