Jubaland President Ahmed Madobe has openly criticized Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s leadership.
He accused him of attempting to centralize power and revive authoritarian practices reminiscent of past regimes.

Jubaland President Ahmed Madobe Rejects Centralization

In a recent speech, President Madobe expressed strong opposition to efforts by the federal government to form a dominant political party.
Drawing parallels to the Revolutionary Socialist Party established during Siad Barre’s regime.

    He stated:

“They want to establish a party like the Revolutionary Socialist Party of the Somali Democratic Republic, but they fail to understand that they have no real control, nor do they possess the revolutionary power.”

Madobe emphasized that the current government’s attempts to centralize authority lack the necessary control and unity, warning that such moves could undermine Somalia’s federal system.

Jubaland President Ahmed Madobe Calls for Dialogue and Inclusive Governance

Despite his criticisms, Jubaland President Ahmed Madobe expressed willingness to engage in dialogue with the federal government to address ongoing political challenges.

He highlighted the importance of inclusive governance and collaboration among Somalia’s federal member states:

“I am ready to sit down and engage in dialogue with the federal leadership…
No issue can be resolved through dialogue.

Who can claim that one clan has decisively defeated another after all the civil wars? That is simply not the case.”

Madobe’s remarks underscore the need for constructive discussions to resolve political disagreements and promote national unity.

New Political Tensions Amid Efforts to Form a New Political Party

Reports indicate that the federal government, along with some regional leaders, is considering forming a new large political party.

Madobe warned that such efforts could exacerbate existing tensions and potentially destabilize the country’s fragile political landscape.
