The Federal Government of Somalia has taken another step toward improving its national healthcare system.

Who Signed the MoU Between Somalia and EMPHNET?

During an official visit to Amman, the Minister of Health and Human Services, Dr. Ali Haji Adam, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET) to enhance cooperation in developing Somalia’s health sector.

The new partnership focuses on strengthening Somalia’s healthcare services, building the capacity of health professionals, and improving disease prevention and surveillance systems across the country.

A Strategic Partnership for Public Health Improvement

EMPHNET is a leading regional organization committed to advancing public health in the Eastern Mediterranean.

It works closely with ministries of health and global partners to support training programs, field epidemiology, and emergency health responses.

This is not the first MoU between Somalia and EMPHNET, as it has successfully implemented several public health projects in Somalia.
Addressing infectious diseases, immunization programs, and community-based health initiatives.

    Expanded Collaboration

These efforts have played an important role in improving healthcare access and resilience in various Somali regions.

The newly signed MoU formalizes the partnership and opens the door for expanded collaboration in key areas, including health workforce training, disease control, data systems, and health research.

It also emphasizes joint planning and technical support to ensure sustainable health system development in Somalia.

Building a Healthier Future for Somalia

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Minister Dr. Ali Haji Adam expressed appreciation for EMPHNET’s continued commitment to supporting Somalia’s health priorities.

He highlighted that the agreement reflects the government’s long-term vision to build a stronger, more inclusive healthcare system that serves all Somalis.

“This partnership will help us improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare services across the country,” Dr. Adam said, noting that the collaboration will enhance the Ministry’s ability to respond to health emergencies and strengthen disease surveillance systems.

More Resilient and Responsive Healthcare System

EMPHNET representatives reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to work hand-in-hand with Somalia’s Ministry of Health to address the country’s most pressing health challenges.

The MoU marks a significant milestone in Somalia’s efforts to rebuild its health sector and ensure better outcomes for its citizens.

With EMPHNET’s technical expertise and the Ministry’s national leadership, this collaboration is expected to pave the way for a more resilient and responsive healthcare system.
