Lasting peace deal talks between the United States and Iran are still happening right now. Even though there was a lot of scary military fighting on Wednesday and Thursday a top American official said both sides want to keep talking. This news came out from Bloomberg on Friday where an official who did not want to give their name said that the United States really wants to find a diplomatic fix with Iran. They do not want a massive war if they can avoid it.

Lasting peace deal hopes face big military troubles

The American official explained that these meetings are technical talks right now. The big goal is to finish a lasting peace deal around the middle of August. This gives them only a few weeks to fix some huge problems that have been going on for years. The main issue is the nuclear program in Iran. The United States wants Iran to stop enriching uranium immediately and to get rid of the materials they already have that could be used to build a nuclear bomb.

    Donald Trump and the airstrikes

Things got very complicated when President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the old ceasefire and understanding with Iran was totally over. He ordered two big rounds of airstrikes after some attacks. But people who know the situation say Trump is mostly focused on making sure the Strait of Hormuz stays open for ships. He is trying hard to avoid a full war while showing that the US will fight back if they get attacked. News websites like Axios say that despite the bombs both countries still want to save the basic agreement.

    Secret fights inside Iran

Some regional sources think that the latest attacks in the Strait of Hormuz did not come from the whole Iranian government. Instead they believe some angry groups inside Iran who hate the lasting peace deal planned the attacks on purpose. These groups want to ruin the negotiations so the two countries stay enemies forever. This internal drama makes it very hard for the main leaders to trust each other when they sit down to talk.

    Big help from neighboring countries

Because the situation became so dangerous many countries in the Middle East started working fast to stop a massive war. Officials from Qatar Pakistan Turkey Egypt and Saudi Arabia spent all of Wednesday making phone calls to both American and Iranian leaders. They are acting as a bridge to send messages back and forth so no one makes a mistake that starts a real war. These mediators truly believe a lasting peace deal is still possible if everyone just cools down.

    Why this agreement matters

If they can actually sign a lasting peace deal it will change everything in the Middle East. It will stop the threat of a nuclear crisis and keep the oil ships moving safely through the gulf. Right now the whole world is watching to see if the August deadline is real or just a dream. Both sides know that a lasting peace deal is the only way to fix their economies and stop the endless bombing.

The next few weeks will show if the diplomats can beat the military tension. If they fail to get a lasting peace deal by August the whole region might slide into a much bigger conflict that nobody can stop. Everyone is hoping the secret talks can finally bring a lasting peace deal to end the crisis for good.
