People in the area saw a huge fireball and thick smoke rising into the air near tents where displaced families were staying. The army claimed that the building was being used by Hamas to store weapons and military gear. Local Palestinian officials strongly denied these claims and called them fake excuses to justify destroying religious places.

    This latest Gaza mosque strike has caused a lot of anger among local residents who feel no place is safe anymore.     The Israeli military announced that its forces attacked and destroyed several weapon storage sites in northern and central Gaza over the past week. According to their official statements one of those storage areas was built right inside Al-Muttaqin Mosque. They said they sent warnings to local people before dropping the bombs so civilians could leave the spot.

    However the local ministry of religious affairs confirmed that the strike completely destroyed the whole building. Video footage shows local citizens running away shortly before the explosion happened. After the dust settled men and women returned to the rubble to look for any items or belongings they could save from under the broken concrete.

    Official workers from the local ministry said that the reasons given by the military were completely untrue. They said the army always uses claims about fighters or weapons to justify blowing up homes and places of worship. Reports show that well over one hundred sixty sites have been damaged or completely ruined so far. These include historic locations educational centers and at least fourteen religious sites like churches and mosques.

    The ongoing fighting began back in October 2023 and has caused massive damage to basic roads buildings and public services. Millions of people continue to face hard living conditions with limited access to basic food clean water and proper medical care.
