Puntland has launched the final phase of its anti-ISIS campaign, targeting militant hideouts in the Bari region. Security forces have intensified operations to dismantle ISIS strongholds and eliminate threats to stability. The offensive aims to secure key areas and restore full government control. Officials emphasize that this is a decisive step toward long-term security in Puntland.

    Puntland’s Military Strategy Against ISIS

Puntland’s security forces have adopted a multi-phase strategy to combat ISIS, focusing on intelligence-driven operations. Over the past year, at least 200 militants have been eliminated, and several key commanders have been captured. The government has deployed additional troops to mountainous regions where ISIS fighters operate. Air and ground offensives have been intensified to dismantle the group’s supply routes and operational bases.

Progress and Challenges in the Security Operation

Since the start of the operation, Puntland forces have regained control of several strategic villages, reducing ISIS’s influence. However, the militants continue to use guerrilla tactics, including roadside bombs and targeted assassinations, to resist government advances. The harsh terrain of the Bari region poses logistical challenges for security forces. Despite these obstacles, Puntland remains committed to fully neutralizing the extremist threat.

Final Phase of Anti-ISIS Campaign and Future Prospects

The final phase of the Anti-ISIS Campaign focuses on eliminating the last pockets of resistance and preventing the group’s resurgence. Officials report that over 80% of previously ISIS-controlled areas are now under government control. Security experts warn that continued regional cooperation is crucial to ensuring long-term stability. Puntland’s leadership has vowed to maintain military pressure while also investing in counter-radicalization programs.

Puntland’s decisive military operations have significantly weakened ISIS strongholds, marking a crucial step toward long-term security. However, sustained efforts are needed to prevent militant resurgence and ensure lasting stability. Continued regional cooperation and strategic counter-terrorism measures will be vital for maintaining peace.
