The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the recent terrorist bombing that struck a Somali National Army installation in Mogadishu, killing and injuring dozens of recruits.

UAE Official Statement on Al-Shabaab Terrorism:

In a communiqué released by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abu Dhabi:

    • “Condemns in the strongest terms this cowardly act of terror.”
    • Extends heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and to the Somali government.
    • Wishes a speedy recovery to those wounded in the attack.
    • Reaffirms its steadfast solidarity with Somalia in all efforts to safeguard security and stability.

    Context of Al-Shabaab Attack:

This time Al-Shabaab terrorism targeted hundreds of young men queued for enlistment, aiming to derail Somalia’s ongoing military build-up before draw-down of African Union Transition Mission troop.

The UAE has been a key humanitarian and development partner for Somalia, providing emergency food, medical aid during droughts and floods.
As well as trainings and equipment for Somali security forces and infrastructure projects that bolster economic resilience.

Today’s condemnation underscores Abu Dhabi’s commitment to:

      • Counter-terrorism collaboration with the Federal Government of Somalia.
      • Continued financial and technical assistance for stabilization programs.
      • Support for regional and international initiatives that promote lasting peace in the Horn of Africa.

Security analysts note that outside support remains crucial.
As Mogadishu races to reinforce its defense capabilities before AU peacekeepers fully withdraw.

The UAE’s prompt response sends a clear diplomatic signal: Al-Shabaab terrorism will not shake the growing partnership between Abu Dhabi and Mogadishu or deter efforts to build a secure, prosperous Somalia.
