    The President of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA), Augustino Parek Maduot, attended a historic peace match in Somalia at Mogadishu Stadium.

    This significant event, held on Tuesday, marked a major step forward for Somali sports and showcased the growing confidence in the nation’s stability.

    African Football Legends Grace the Historic Peace Match in Somalia

    The stadium buzzed with excitement as a team of African football legends took on a selected squad. Among the prominent figures who graced the pitch were Samuel Eto’o (now the Cameroon Football President and a CAF Executive Member), Nigerian maestro Jay-Jay Okocha, and Togolese star Emmanuel Adebayor.

    Their presence in this historic peace match in Somalia underscored the international solidarity with the country.
    Also participating in the match was Suleiman Waberi, President of the Djibouti Football Federation and a FIFA Council Member, further highlighting regional support.

    CECAFA President Maduot expressed his delight at being in Somalia, stating:

    “I am happy to be in Somalia because we must always support our members in the Zone.
    It is always good to be united as a Football family.”

    Somalia’s Prime Minister Barre echoed this sentiment, highlighting this historic peace match in Somalia as a significant milestone in efforts to restore the image and strength of Somali sports.
