Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he will not participate in the revamped FIFA Club World Cup.

The Portuguese star made the announcement just two days after extending his contract with Al Nassr until 2027, keeping him at the Saudi Pro League club past his 42nd birthday.

On June 26, 2025, Al Nassr officially announced that Ronaldo had signed a two-year extension.

The deal cements his presence in Saudi football through 2027, aligning with his ambition to play in the FIFA World Cup 2026, set to be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

“My goal is always to win something important for Al Nassr,” Ronaldo said.
“That’s why I renewed for two more years—I believe I’ll be a champion in Saudi Arabia.”

Since joining Al Nassr in 2022 after leaving Manchester United, Ronaldo has delivered exceptional performances.

He has scored 93 goals in 105 matches across all competitions, becoming the centerpiece of the club’s transformation into a global football brand.

Amid rumors that FIFA had considered including Ronaldo in the expanded Club World Cup despite Al Nassr not qualifying, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner clarified his position.

“I had some offers to play in the Club World Cup, but I think it didn’t make sense,” Ronaldo said in a video posted by Al Nassr on X (formerly Twitter).

“I prefer to have a good rest and a strong preparation because this season will be long—especially with the World Cup at the end of the year.”

He added that his focus remains on delivering for both Al Nassr and the Portugal national team, emphasizing:

“This is why I played the last Nations League game and didn’t listen to anything else. And of course, to be at this club, which I love.”

“Two years more، I'm happy here and I believe. ”

What is Ronaldo Ambition in Goals Scoring?

Cristiano Ronaldo, now 40, is also eyeing the historic 1,000-goal career milestone. His current tally stands at 932 goals—794 at club level and 138 for Portugal.

Earlier this month, he scored in the UEFA Nations League Final against Spain.
The match ended 2-2 in regulation time, with Portugal securing the title in a dramatic penalty shootout.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s decision to skip the FIFA Club World Cup highlights his strategic approach to fitness and performance as he looks ahead to World Cup 2026.

By extending his contract with Al Nassr, the Portuguese icon signals both his loyalty to the club and his unrelenting pursuit of greatness—both in Saudi Arabia and on the international stage.
