    Somalia and African Union plan for more cooperation in the next few years.

    Recently, Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalaan Abdi Ali, held a high-level meeting with Ambassador El Hadji Ibrahima Diene, the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the AU Commission for Somalia and Head of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).

    Somalia and African Union Express Commitment to Enhance Cooperation

    The meeting, which took place at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu, underscored the shared commitment between Somalia and African Union.
    In order to enhance cooperation in security and stabilization efforts.

    Discussions focused on the African Union’s critical role in strengthening Somalia’s national security, with a strong emphasis on ongoing counter-terrorism operations and support for peacebuilding across the country.

    AUSSOM Mission Plays a Pivotal Role in Fostering Stability

    Minister Abdisalaan expressed his gratitude for the African Union’s continued presence and support, particularly through the AUSSOM mission, which has played a pivotal role in fostering stability.

    He called on the AU to further intensify its efforts to consolidate peace and strengthen institutional resilience in Somalia.

    Long-term Cooperation in Various Areas

    Ambassador Diene reaffirmed the African Union’s unwavering commitment to standing by Somalia in its journey toward lasting peace and development.

    He emphasized the AU’s readiness to deepen its strategic partnership with the Somali government and its people.
    Ensuring long-term cooperation in various areas including governance, peacekeeping, and economic recovery.

    Growing Momentum

    The meeting reflects growing momentum in AU-Somalia relations.
    Especially as Somalia works toward enhancing national sovereignty and security amid regional and global challenges.

    Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination and explore new opportunities for joint action that supports Somalia’s path toward sustainable peace and security.
