Puntland Minister of Information, Mahmoud Aydiid Dirir, has urged citizens and political leaders across Somalia to rally behind the region’s defense forces as they continue operations in the Al-Miskaad Mountains against insurgent groups.

Speaking at a public meeting organized to support the troops, the minister also delivered a sharp critique of the federal government and called for a national dialogue in Garowe to resolve political disputes.

Minister Aydiid commended the Puntland Defense Forces for their resilience and steadfastness in the ongoing Al-Miskaad campaign.

He highlighted the sacrifices made by the troops and appealed to the people of Puntland to once again stand shoulder to shoulder with the security forces.

“Our forces have steadfastly withstood every difficulty in the mountains.
This week, citizens are expected to send provisions such as food, meat and blankets to the frontlines.

The success of our forces has been recognized by the entire world,” Minister Dirir said.

Puntland Minister of Information Criticizes Somalia’s Federal Government

In his remarks, the minister accused the Federal Government of Somalia of “land grabbing, violating the constitution, and dividing communities.”

He warned that such actions threaten the fragile stability in Somalia and undermine collective efforts against extremist groups.

Aydiid called on all Somali authorities and political leaders to come to Garowe, the administrative capital of Puntland, for inclusive talks aimed at resolving ongoing political disagreements.

Call to Move Somalia’s Political Focus to Garowe

Puntland Minister of Information also proposed a symbolic shift of Somalia’s political center to Garowe, arguing that it would help restore national unity and transparency.

“For Somalia to be free again, the capital must move to Garowe.
We call on the country’s leaders to follow developments from Garowe so that all Somalis can follow the process,” Aydiid said.

    Strengthening Support for Security Forces

In recent months, the Al-Miskaad region has become a focal point in Puntland’s broader security strategy, as insurgent groups seek to exploit rugged terrain to regroup and launch attacks.

Local elders and community organizations have stepped up support efforts by coordinating food drives and medical supplies for the troops, reflecting a growing sense of civic duty.

Analysts note that this grassroots backing is crucial for sustaining counter-insurgency operations and for accelerating the long-planned handover of security responsibilities from regional forces to national structures.

They say that Puntland Minister of Information speech underscores both the security challenges facing Somalia and the importance of sustained public support for frontline forces.
