A recent survey by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) reveals that workload pressures are putting patient safety at risk.

According to the poll, 73% of GPs reported that their heavy workloads compromise patient care.

The survey also found that 58% of GPs feel they lack sufficient time to properly assess and treat patients during appointments.

She noted that expanding services under the new Neighbourhood Health Service model will require a significant increase in family doctors nationwide.

High workloads and staffing shortages are driving widespread burnout among healthcare professionals.

    NHS Staff Survey 2023

NHS Staff Survey 2023 found that nearly one in three employees felt burnt out, and almost three-quarters faced unrealistic time pressures.

Evidence shows that burnout not only affects staff well-being but also directly impacts patient safety, care continuity, and overall service quality.

Experts agree that with proper awareness, staffing, and funding, burnout can be reduced, allowing GPs to deliver safer, more effective care.
