Harmoud Salam Foundation has facilitated urgent heart surgery for more than 50 Somali girls in Italy. The initiative is part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts in the health sector, where nearly 70 percent of girls suffer from congenital heart diseases. The aim of the foundation is to provide these children with the necessary treatment that was not available locally.

The foundation’s partnership with Italian hospitals makes it possible to provide life-saving surgeries, which provide a critical solution for the 30 percent of children in Somalia who do not have access to essential medical care locally.

Harmoud Salam Foundation has funded over 200 health projects in Somalia since its inception. In 2024, the foundation allocated $2 million to improve access to health facilities, increasing medical services in rural areas by 20 percent and benefiting marginalized communities.
