Somalia has strongly rejected a US proposal to resettle Palestinians displaced from Gaza on its territory. Somali Foreign Minister Ahmed Moallem Fiki clarified that the government had not received any such proposal, but that it would not accept any measure that would violate the right of Palestinians to live in their homeland. Somalia has expressed its unwavering support for Palestinian sovereignty. This stance is echoed in the decisions of other countries, which have rejected similar proposals.

Somalia’s Firm Stance on Palestinian Sovereignty

Somalia completely rejects any proposal that seeks to displace the Palestinian people from their homeland. The Somali government has made it clear that it will not compromise on the Palestinian right to self-determination and will take a strong stance against any such plan. The authorities stressed that the Palestinians have the inalienable right to return to their homeland, and Somalia’s commitment to supporting this principle remains unwavering.

Reactions from Other Nations on the Resettlement Proposal

Several countries, including Sudan and Egypt, have completely rejected the idea of forced settlement of Palestinians, indicating that support for the project in African countries is negligible. According to various reports, more than 90 percent of Arab and African countries strongly oppose any move to resettle the Palestinian people away from their homeland.

Global Implications of the Rejected U.S. Plan

The rejected proposals highlight a growing regional consensus against forced settlement, with the majority of Middle Eastern countries in favor of Palestinian sovereignty. According to reports, more than 70 percent of countries are emphasizing that Palestinians should have the right to live in their homeland. The failure of such proposals could negatively affect future diplomatic efforts to resolve the Gaza crisis.

Somalia has strongly supported Palestinian sovereignty by rejecting the US proposal on forced settlement. This decision demonstrates the joint response of African and Arab countries to the forced displacement of Palestinians. This stance reflects the global call for a just solution that fully protects the right of Palestinians to live in their homeland.
