The Governor of Banaadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), officially launched the 2025 intermediate-level national examinations, with 41,639 students participating across the region.

This year marks a significant milestone—the sixth consecutive year that the Banaadir Regional Administration has independently managed and conducted the standardized exams.

The achievement underscores the region’s growing administrative capacity and long-term commitment to advancing education in Mogadishu and across Banaadir.

Governor of Banaadir: “Education is Shaping Somalia’s Future.”

During the launch ceremony, Muungaab highlighted the importance of education in shaping Somalia’s future.

He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to enhancing both the quality and accessibility of education, with a pledge to boost investment in free public schooling and expand educational opportunities for students of all backgrounds.

“Today’s exam launch is a proud moment not just for the students, but for all of us working toward a better, more educated Somalia.

We will continue supporting our youth with access to free and fair education,” said Mayor Muungaab.

Who Attended the Launch Ceremony of 2025 Intermediate-Level National Examinations?

Governor of Banaadir extended his congratulations to the parents and guardians who play a vital role in their children’s educational journey, and he expressed gratitude to the security forces ensuring the integrity and safety of all examination centers.

The event was attended by senior regional officials, including:

    • Deputy Governor for Security and Politics, Mohamed Ahmed Diriye (Yabooh)
    • Commander of Banaadir Police Division
    • Education officials overseeing exam administration
    • Other high-ranking members of the Banaadir Regional Administration

This large-scale examination marks a pivotal step forward in Somalia’s broader educational development. Especially in urban regions like Mogadishu, where growing youth populations require expanded access to structured, high-quality education systems.
