    The Interior Minister, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Hon. MP Ali Yusuf Ali (Hosh), hosted a high-level meeting with the United Nations Special Representative for Somalia, Ambassador James Swan, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu.

    The meeting focused on deepening cooperation in support of Somalia’s ongoing state-building and stabilization agenda.

    What did the Somali Interior Minister and UN Special Representative Discussions include?

    Key areas of discussion included reconciliation at the community and regional levels, preparations for upcoming national elections, and enhancing public service delivery across the country.

    Both parties emphasized the importance of strengthening governance frameworks and fostering inclusive, accountable institutions as a foundation for long-term peace and development.

    Interior Minister Ali Yusuf Ali reaffirmed the Somali government’s commitment to promoting inclusive dialogue, citizen-centered governance.
    As well as the delivery of essential services that respond to the needs of local communities.

    He underscored the importance of continued coordination with international partners to ensure effective implementation of national priorities.

    UN Office for Project Services Visits Somalia Soon

    The UN is Ready to Align its Programs with Somali-led Strategies

    Ambassador Swan reiterated the United Nations’ commitment to supporting Somalia’s peacebuilding and development efforts, noting that the UN remains ready to align its programs with Somali-led strategies and to provide technical and logistical support where needed.

    The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to enhanced bilateral cooperation, aimed at accelerating progress in critical areas such as stabilization, decentralization, elections, and institutional reform.

    This engagement highlights the ongoing collaboration between the Federal Government of Somalia and the United Nations as they work together to advance a peaceful, resilient, and prosperous Somalia.
