    Energy Drinks are found in almost every shop and petrol station these days and many young people grab one whenever they feel a bit tired or need to stay awake for a long shift at work. However a very serious warning has been issued by doctors who say that these cans might be doing a lot of damage to the blood vessels inside your head. The high amount of caffeine and sugar in Energy Drinks causes the heart to beat much faster than it should which puts a lot of pressure on the brain.

    When you drink these things all the time you are making your blood pressure go up very high and this can lead to a sudden block in the veins. This Energy Drinks problem is not just for old people but even teenagers are ending up in the hospital with symptoms that look like a stroke. It is a scary thought that a simple drink from the fridge could change your life forever in just a few minutes.

    If you look at the back of the label you will see many ingredients that sound like they belong in a chemistry lab rather than a kitchen. The main issue with Energy Drinks is that they have way more caffeine than a normal cup of coffee or a bottle of soda. When this caffeine hits your system it makes your arteries get very thin and tight which makes it hard for the blood to flow to the brain properly.

    This is why some people feel a sharp headache or get dizzy after finishing one of these Energy Drinks in a hurry. Doctors are now seeing more cases where the brain stops getting oxygen because the heart is working too hard and the blood gets too thick to move. It is a very dangerous situation because most people think they are just getting a quick boost but they are actually putting their whole body under a lot of stress.

    The brain is a very delicate organ and it needs a steady flow of blood to keep all the cells alive and working well. When you use Energy Drinks to replace sleep you are not giving your brain the chance to rest and repair itself after a long day of thinking.

    This habit of relying on Energy Drinks creates a cycle where you are always tired and always putting more chemicals into your body to keep going. Over many months this can cause the walls of the blood vessels in the brain to become weak and they might even burst if the pressure gets too high.

    This is what leads to a hemorrhagic stroke which is a very life threatening emergency that requires immediate help from a surgeon. It is much better to find a natural way to get energy like eating fruit or taking a short nap instead of reaching for a colorful can.

    Why young people are at high risk from Energy Drinks

    For some reason many athletes and students think that Energy Drinks will help them perform better during a game or while they are studying for a big exam. The truth is that the crash that comes after the sugar wears off is much worse than the energy you got at the beginning.

    If you mix Energy Drinks with exercise your heart has to work double time and this is when the most dangerous accidents happen to healthy young people. There have been stories of people having seizures or falling down because their heart couldn’t handle the mix of physical work and the chemicals in the Energy Drinks.

    Parents should be very careful and talk to their kids about why it is not a good idea to drink these every day like they are water. It is a risk that is just not worth taking when you have your whole life ahead of you.

    Better alternatives to keep you awake and alert

    If you really need a pick me up there are much safer ways to do it without the side effects of Energy Drinks and the risk of a stroke. Drinking plenty of cold water and eating a small snack with protein can give you a steady stream of energy that lasts much longer than a chemical boost.

    You can also try green tea which has some caffeine but it also has antioxidants that are actually good for your brain and your heart health. Once you stop using Energy Drinks you will notice that your sleep gets better and your mood is much more stable during the day.

    It takes a little bit of time for your body to get used to not having the high dose of sugar but you will feel much stronger in the long run. Your brain will thank you for making the switch to a healthier lifestyle that doesn’t involve dangerous risks.
