In a decisive counterterrorism success, the Somali National Army (SNA), in close collaboration with Jubbaland elite Dervish forces, executed a high-impact joint operation near the Bulo-Haji area in Lower Juba, dealing a significant blow to the Kharijites militant group.

Lower Juba operation comes as part of Operation Black Lion, a broader national strategy aimed at eliminating extremist threats posed by the Kharijites, commonly associated with extremist factions attempting to destabilize Somalia through insurgency and terror.

According to military sources, the coordinated offensive led to the elimination of over 25 insurgents.
Including senior leaders who were key to the group’s operational structure.

The targeted strike dismantled command networks and disrupted critical militant positions that had long threatened local stability.

Beyond the militant casualties, Somali forces destroyed multiple enemy hideouts and military vehicles, significantly degrading the group’s logistical and operational capabilities in the region.

The infrastructure targeted was previously used to launch attacks and enforce militant control over vulnerable communities.

Residents in the Bulo-Haji vicinity reported hearing heavy gunfire and aerial support, but many expressed relief and renewed hope in the aftermath of Lower Juba operation.

Locals, who have lived under fear of militant rule, welcomed the return of government forces and expressed gratitude for efforts to secure the area.

Community elders have already begun working with security forces to stabilize liberated villages and ensure that humanitarian services can safely reach affected populations.

Lower Juba Operation is part of Somalia’s Intensified Efforts Against Kharijites group

Defense officials lauded operation as a strategic milestone in Somalia’s broader campaign against terrorism.

The successful mission reflects growing synergy between national and regional forces, showcasing improved intelligence sharing and tactical execution.

Mentioning that Lower Juba operation is part of the Federal Government of Somalia’s intensified efforts to eradicate the Kharijites group and safeguard civilians from extremist violence.

Security operations have been ramping up across key regions.
Especially in southern Somalia, as part of a comprehensive push to restore peace and dismantle insurgent strongholds.
