    In a landmark move toward digital transformation, Somalia’s Immigration and Nationality Authority has officially announced the launch of Somalia E-VISA System (E-VISA/ETAS), effective September 1, 2025.

    This strategic shift positions Somalia among the nations embracing cutting-edge digital solutions for managing border entry and exit.

    Somalia E-VISA System: Enhanced Security and Streamlined Visa Processing

    During the official inauguration ceremony, Minister of Internal Security Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag emphasized that all foreign nationals intending to enter Somalia must now apply through the official online portal.

    He highlighted the role of Somalia E-VISA System:

    • Strengthening national security through improved monitoring of foreign visitors
    • Increasing revenue efficiency by channeling visa fees directly to the Ministry of Finance

    A Milestone in Somalia’s Digital Evolution

    Mustafa Sheikh Ali Dhuxluwo, Director General of the Immigration and Nationality Authority, described the launch as a “transformational step” that reflects Somalia’s commitment to global digital trends.

    He noted key benefits of the system:

    • Protection of personal data
    • Support for the national economy
    • Enhanced traveler experience through faster and more reliable services

    Exemptions and Special Categories

    Officials clarified that certain categories will be exempt from pre-entry authorization via the E-VISA system, including:

    • Holders of valid multi-entry visas
    • Residents with active permits
    • Accredited diplomats
    • UNLP passport holders
    • Citizens of countries with visa-free agreements with Somalia

    Global Accessibility and Professional Service

    Isaak Hassan Tako, Director of Foreign Affairs and Entry Management, confirmed that the system was developed after years of preparation.
    It allows applicants to:

    • Submit visa requests from anywhere in the world
    • Receive approvals within a short timeframe
    • Benefit from trained personnel dedicated to fast and efficient service delivery

    Boosting Travel, Investment, and Somalia’s Global Image

    The introduction of Somalia E-VISA System is expected to facilitate international travel and investment.

    It will also reinforce Somalia’s image as a nation committed to digital governance and administrative reform in immigration services.
