The Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has announced the adoption of a multi-dimensional strategy to counter terrorism by eliminating the terrorist groups Al-Shabaab and ISIS.
    Besides enhancing the country’s stability.

Somali President Strategy to Counter Terrorism:

President Mohamud explained that the Somali government is implementing an integrated approach consisting of several key pillars:

    • Military Operations: Intensifying military campaigns against terrorist strongholds in regions such as Middle and Lower Shabelle and Hiraan, inflicting significant losses on extremist groups.
    • International Cooperation: Strengthening partnerships with international allies to secure logistical and intelligence support for coordinated anti-terrorism efforts.
    • Disrupting Terror Financing: Shutting down suspicious bank accounts and disabling money transfer services used by terrorist groups to fund their operations.
    • Awareness and Reconciliation: Launching awareness campaigns to counter extremist ideologies and encouraging armed group members to defect and join rehabilitation programs.
