2025-2030 weapons management, the National Security Office held a meeting in Mogadishu today to discuss the coordination and management of weapons and ammunition in the country. The meeting, which is held twice a year, focused on approving the National Strategy for Weapons and Ammunition Management for the years 2025–2030.

2025-2030 weapons management, the meeting was chaired by the National Security Advisor, and was attended by the Director General of the Ministry of Defense, officials from the Ministries of Internal Security, Justice, and national security agencies such as the Somali Police, the National Security and Intelligence Agency (NISA), the Correctional Service, and the Somali National Army.

Also present were representatives from the United Nations, embassies of friendly countries in Somalia, and international organizations working to support programs to develop weapons and ammunition management systems.
STRENGTHENING THE COORDINATION BETWEEN NATIONAL AND SUB-NATIONAL SECURITY AGENCIES
2025-2030 weapons management,the National Security Advisor, in his opening remarks, said that the conference reflects the strong commitment of the Federal Government of Somalia to strengthen coordination and cooperation between national and sub-national security agencies.
He stressed the importance of establishing an efficient and responsible system for managing weapons and ammunition, so that the country’s security systems are in line with international norms and standards, and implement relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
The Director General of the Ministry of Defense, indicated that the new strategy focuses on building government capacity and systems to manage weapons and ammunition. He noted that the new strategy focuses on reducing the risks and hazards arising from the storage and importation of ammunition, in accordance with the International Ammunition Technical Guidelines (IATG).
Finally, the meeting concluded with a general agreement in support of the implementation of the new arms and ammunition management strategy, with an agreement that the Ministry of National Defense submit this strategy to the Council of Ministers for approval and to begin its formal implementation.
