    A Somali citizen tortured, the former President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, has strongly condemned the illegal arrest and torture of Kamil Abdi Macow, a youth rights and democracy activist, who was unlawfully detained for days in Mogadishu.

    A Somali citizen tortured, former President Farmaajo said it is appalling that a Somali citizen is being pressured for his political views and his job is being taken away in order to force him to join a particular political organization. This action, he described as contrary to the country’s Constitution, the Civil Service Law, international human rights conventions and principles, and the values ​​of Somali democracy.

    1. Release Kamil Abdi Macow immediately and in accordance with the law,
    2. Restore his rights to work and personal identity that have been denied him,
    3. End all acts of repression and political intimidation against the public, especially Somali youth who stand up for their rights.

    A Somali citizen tortured, the former president stressed the importance of security agencies and civil servants acting within the law, and not being used for political purposes that damage the reputation of the state and the public’s trust.

    Although the country is experiencing political campaigns, there will be more different conflicts that will appear based on political views, and these happenings will cause political conflicts which can lead the country a security instability.
