Somalia’s tourism sector, the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Da’uud Aweys Jama, participated in a conference of African Ministers of Tourism in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where the 26th United Nations Tourism General Assembly is underway.
SOMALIA’S TOURISM SECTOR: SUSTAINABLE TOURISM SECTOR
Somalia’s tourism sector, he Minister, who delivered a speech at the conference, noted that the tourism sector in Somalia has made a significant recovery, adding that Somalia is ready to be part of Africa’s goal of implementing a sustainable tourism sector for the continent, with a focus on environmental protection, strengthening tourism knowledge, and developing the economies of communities.

The Minister also noted in his speech that if there is to be progress in the tourism sector on the continent, it is necessary to ease the conditions for movement within the continent, such as facilitating entry, strengthening flight services, and integrating communities crossing borders to create new markets for the growth of the tourism sector on the continent.

TOURISM INVESTMENT IN SOMALIA
Somalia’s tourism sector, the Minister said that Somalia is ready for tourism investment, as the Federal Government of Somalia has implemented a national research project related to tourism issues, which is based on the revitalization of modern tourism services, strengthening tourism knowledge and skills services, and the revitalization and modernization of the country’s tourist attractions.

The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Da’uud Aweys Jama, is participating in the 26th General Conference of the United Nations World Tourism Organization in Riyadh, which is being hosted this year by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which will be the first time that Gulf countries have hosted this conference.
The conference, which is held every two years, coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, with the agenda to be discussed including the plan and vision for the next 50 years of developing world tourism.
