The Special Envoy of the Palestinian Presidency, Mohammad Shtayyeh, announced that the representatives of Palestinian Authority will visit several European capitals to gain formal recognition of the State of Palestine, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Speaking at a press conference at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Shtayyeh — who previously served as Palestinian Prime Minister — said he will continue his diplomatic mission to the Netherlands and Austria, aiming to strengthen support for Palestinian statehood.

He also revealed that another delegation will travel to the Baltic states.
While President Mahmoud Abbas is expected to visit Italy and Germany to advance the same goal.

34 Countries Still Haven’t Recognize the State of Palestine

Mohammad Shtayyeh emphasized that these efforts are part of a broader campaign urging European nations to follow the example of Britain, Australia, Canada, and Portugal, which recognized Palestine on September 21.

“There are still 34 countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine, and we are in active communication with them,” Shtayyeh told reporters.

During his visit to Switzerland, Shtayyeh met with Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis, urging Swiss leaders to align their words with action and formally recognize Palestine as a sovereign state.
